Teak Garden Dining Sets
Gardencast has a range of Teak garden furniture, carefully chosen over the years to provide quality and workmanship in the goods we sell. The Lincoln Teak garden table and chairs is a good quality 4 seater garden furniture set, all of which folds for easy storage. The York, Marlborough and Sumatra Teak garden benches are solid and heavy and very well made. Garden furniture can be manufactured from many different materials but if you are looking for wooden garden furniture, Teak has to be your number one choice.
Quality Wooden Outdoor Furniture
Teak has some great qualities and that is one reason it is widely used in the production of garden furniture. Produced mainly in the Far East, and in particular Indonesia, this abundant wood is fast growing and replanting takes place when trees are removed. The wood is dense and heavy, an ideal hardwood for outdoor use. The density of the wood means that the weather takes much longer to break down the natural oils and therefore Teak garden furniture is some of the longest lasting that you will find. The wood's natural colour is very pale and looks almost white from a distance. However, we are used to seeing Teak after it has been oiled with Teak Oil or Linseed oil. This darkens the colour of the wood to a mid brown shade. Our products are not oiled at the factory and will be delivered to you in their natural condition. You then have the option of whether you wish to oil the wood or not. Because of the wood's density, it will weather well outside but without oil, the colour will change to a "Silver Grey" after a couple of years outdoors. Also, rain and sun will burn out the oils near the surface and this will cause a roughness to the wood. This does not mean that the bench is about to disintegrate - far from it. It is just a look. By oiling the wood, you will immediately change the colour and you will need to keep oiling at least every 6 months to retain that look. Oiling will keep out the weather and you will retain the smoothness of the product.
Teak Garden Benches
Here at Gardencast we do tend to specialise in Teak garden beches these days as we have found that these are generally the most popular Teak products. We have 3 different styles of bench and they are all 3 seaters, or around 150cms long. The York bench is a traditional "park bench" style with the slight curve to the top of the back. The York is perfect as a commemorative bench and we sell many which are to have plaques attached for one reason or another. Particularly popular with Golf Clubs and Bowls clubs! Delivered fully assembled, the York is a fine example of a well made, sturdy and durable bench, able to remain outdoors in all weathers. The Sumatra bench is rather unusual in shape and would be a feature in the garden. A curved, slatted back with a thick Teak frame, the Sumatra can be situated in a corner or around a table. Again, fully assembled, the bench is a heavyweight and will withstand the rigours of life in the garden. Finally the Marlborough. The basic design of this bench dates back over 100 years and there have been variations on a theme since then. The basic design was patented by Sir Edwin Lutyens and has been in constant production ever since. Hence the name "Lutyens bench". It has been, and always will be, a popular design and is ceratinly a talking point for the garden. Once again, fully assembled when delivered, you should get years of life out of all our Teak garden benches. |
