Slate & Stone Outdoor Furniture
This range of outdoor furniture from Europa Leisure has tables which are all individual. Despite the fact that the sizes are the same and the stone colours are very similar, each table top has the raw materials individually shaped for the required design. Working with mother nature's materials means that colours vary, density changes and weights alter. That is why that for each garden table, there is no "twin". Whether it be slate or Travertine marble, you have a unique item. The garden chairs are a different matter as they are mostly constructed on a steel or aluminium frame from regular materials with the wicker hand woven onto the frame. An explanation of some of the terms used with the Eropa Leisure sets. The word Riven, as in riven stone or riven slate, means that the stone used has been split (like you would do with a log), leaving a solid, natural surface, which would not neccessarily be perfectly smooth. Obviously flat pieces of stone are used so that our cups or glasses do not topple over on the garden table top. Travertine or Travertine Marble is a form of porous rock, usually a type of limestone, formed by hot springs and is particularly hard. It may therefore have a porous look to it but has been sealed at the factory. Usually a creamy colour, this rock is especially attractive and makes good quality garden furniture. Natural stone is exactly what it sounds like. Chosen here probably because of its colour, it can be worked and shaped into designs for the garden table top. Finally, ceramic tiles are something we are all familiar with and are natural pieces of stone, with a ceramic side baked on, to give a waterprooof and shiny result.
Modern Patio Furniture
There is nothing particularly new about having garden tables and chairs made with a stone top, but Europa Leisure have taken that one step furnther to produce an extensive range. There are something like 25 different table styles in the range and 5 different styles of chair, all mix and match, which gives a massive range of dining sets to choose from. This is and old style that has been revamped to produce modern patio furniture as we like it today. The garden tables have tubular steel or aluminium frames and the garden chairs all stack. This falls in with modern requirements where we want our garden furniture to be practical but fashionable.
