Metal Garden Benches
Where would we be without a bench in the garden! Every home must have one! Garden benches have been around for years and only the materials have changed. Cast aluminium is the new kid on the block and adds to the already vast range of Hardwood, Teak and cast iron benches available. Wooden Outdoor Benches
Take a look at our wooden benches, which are either Teak or another hardwood. We have all 3 seater benches, roughly 150cm overall, and we have selected them because they are sturdy, stylish and good value for money. The Teak garden benches are already assembled by the manufacturer and will be ready to use when they are delivered. The Teak is in its natural condition, i.e. not oiled, and is quite a light colour, which is surprising to most people. The majority of Teak benches that we normally see have already been oiled or stained and this usually takes the colour to a mid brown. Oiling the wood is not essential and does not neccessarily lengthen the life of the bench, but it will help to protect the wood from the elements. Without treatment, the bench will go a "Silver Grey" colour over the course of time and the surface will appear rough, as the natural oils are burnt out by the sun and rain. Teak can also have natural cracks or fissures, and these do not weaken the overall product. If you do decide to go down the oiling route, then you will need to keep oiling every six months or so, as mother nature will take it's toll. Teak oil or linseed oil are readily available from all DIY stores and all wooden garden furniture can be treated with these oils, whether they are Teak or not, unless the manufacturers instructions say otherwise!

By far our biggest range of benches is the metal range - split into the Provence style (Powder coated steel), The Cast Aluminium style and the Traditional style. The Provence style benches are meant to reflect a "taste of France", as the name suggests, and are predominantly folding benches, aged and treated to appear "weathered". Our normal cast aluminium range encorporates various designs of benches, from the old to the modern contemporary designs. Finally our Traditional range - the most extensive - contains garden benches constructed from Cast Aluminium, with designs dating back to Victorian times. These were originally produced from Cast Iron in the Coalbrookdale area of England but manufacturers are now using cast aluminium - a similar metal to work with but lighter and stronger than before. Similar moulds are used to reproduce the Victoriana style benches and they are ideal in the garden of an old or period house. Still hand made in the UK, to order, with the traditional skills handed down through the generations. An interesting, eye catching feature for any garden setting. |
