Quality Teak Bench
Gardencast has a small but popular line of teak garden benches. These range from the popular York bench, which resembles the type of bench you might find in a park, to the Sumatra and Marlborough benches, which are more ornate and make a great feature for the garden. The Marlborough bench is sometimes called the "Lutyens" bench, as it is based on a design by Edwin Lutyens, more than 100 years ago. It has an "oriental" look about it and is a best seller amongst our garden benches!
Outdoor Garden Bench
The qualities of teak make it ideal for outdoor use. Like all hardwood garden benches, the grain of the wood is dense and solid and makes penetration by the elements very difficult. Keeping out water form the grain prevents the wood from splitting. This is natural for teak and garden benches made from this wood should last for many years. Teak is naturally very light in colour and will turn a silver grey colour after a couple of years outside in the weather. This is quite natural for all hardwoods and does not necessarily detract from the longevity of the product.
Teak Wooden Bench
Once you have purchased your quality teak bench, you have the option of how you would like it to look! Our teak garden benches are supplied in a natural condition - i.e. the wood has not been treated in any way. The wood is naturally light in colour. You must now decide whether you wish to oil your bench or not. Leaving the bench will not do any harm and the wood will weather, as descibed above, after a couple of years. If you decide to oil the wood, it will immediately turn a mid brown colour. If you wish to keep it looking that way, you will have to oil again about every 6 months. This will retain the colour and keep it looking in "showroom" condition! |
