This clay chiminea is manufactured to a high standard, from a mixture of refined clays, hand rolled and pressed into moulds, creating their unique shape. The texture paint finish is applied by hand so the variation in colour between each piece gives them an individual appearance. All clay chimineas are water sealed but to prolong their life, treatment with a suitable water sealant every few months is advised.
Once you have "cured" the chiminea (see below), you will have a source of heat for the garden during those chilly evenings and there's nothing better than a real fire for warming up!
Supplied complete with a lid, raincover & stand.
Recommendations for "curing" a Clay Chiminea:-
The first fire should be started on a bed of sand using small screwed up bits of paper until the chimenea is warm. Then put it out and let it cool.
On the second use its best to keep the bed of sand but build a small fire with wood. Again let it go out and cool down. Continue to build up the fire gradually over the next three uses, allowing it to cool, every time. Once you have completed these five stages, your new chiminea is ready to use.
During the winter it is advisable to protect the chimenea from frost. The best way to do this is to bring it indoors during winter or if this is not possible then try and cover the chiminea over. It is the damp that will cause the chimenea to crack so ensure that water does not pool inside the belly.
Lifestyle chimeneas are made using traditional methods. Colours will change after use. Any metal parts will rust. Sensitive to frost.
