Metal Garden Furniture

The Gardencast garden furniture range includes a large selection of traditional style garden benches. These benches are based on designs going back to the Victorian era and only the materials used to make them have changed. This garden bench range is constructed of cast aluminium and still made in the North of England, the established home of metal garden furniture in the UK. There is no doubt that these garden benches have stood the test of time and will last for many years in your own garden. If you are looking for a focal point for the garden, a traditional design metal garden bench would seem to suit the purpose!

Outdoor Patio Bench

The basic methods of making metal benches have not really altered over the centuries - only the materials have changed. Early materials were cast iron or pig iron and the downside of these was that they produced a very heavy end result which was very brittle and prone to rust. The metal was melted and poured into moulds to produce the required design and this is still what happens today. The introduction of cast aluminium, instantly cut out the risk of rust and the end product is lighter and stronger than the earlier materials. Aluminium is one of the most prolific materials on earth and therefore easy to obtain.

Aluminium Garden Bench

One of the best qualities of cast aluminium is its lack of rust. There is nothing in this raw material to go rusty. The paint is powder coated to the metal, a method which involves passing an electrical current through the metal which causes the paint, in a powder form, to stick to the metal. This is then baked on to the metal in a furnace to produce a hard and durable finish. It is tough and resistant to knocks but in the event of an accidental "chip", touch up paint can be applied to the affected area. Resistant to all types of weather, the only maintenance your garden bench should need will be cleaning and this should be undertaken with warm soapy water and a soft bruch.
